Safety first

Do not disconnect wires or force the thermostat housing. Stop if it does not open by hand as designed.

Written steps

  1. Set the thermostat to OFF.
  2. Open only the resident-accessible battery compartment or gently pull the display straight from its wall plate if it releases easily.
  3. Match the battery type and the plus and minus markings.
  4. Replace the cover, restore the previous setting, and allow the display a minute to restart.

  • Wires become visible or the housing does not release easily.
