Do not search for the source, operate switches, use a phone inside, light a flame, or attempt any repair.
What to do now
- Leave the home and move everyone to a safe location away from the building.
- From outside and away from the suspected leak, call 911 if there is immediate danger.
- Follow the emergency contact instructions in your lease materials and contact your gas utility from a safe location.
- Do not re-enter until emergency personnel or the utility says it is safe.
Stop and request maintenance if
- Always stop DIY activity when gas odor or a gas alarm is present.
- Anyone feels dizzy, nauseated, weak, or has a headache.
- You hear hissing or see a damaged gas appliance or line.
